On 13th April, 2022 the students of Shri Ram Ashram Public School, The Mall, Amritsar celebrated Baisakhi, the harvest festival of North India especially of Punjab with great pomp and extreme happiness after prolonged restrictions of covid-19. Baisakhi has a religious importance too. On this pious day, in the year 1699, Guru Govind Singh ji founded Khalsa Panth and gave a unique identity of warriors to the Sikhs to fight against the Mughal atrocities by administering Amrit to his Panj pyaras. On the occasion, an assembly was organised in which the students of class VI & VII enthralled everyone present there with their Bhangra and gidha performances wearing colourful attires followed by write-ups through which the historical background and significance of Baisakhi were explained. Thereafter an emblematic mela scene attracted the attention of everyone. On the same day Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti was also observed with great zeal and excitement to mark his 131st birth anniversay which is celebrated every year on 14th April. Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was a jurist, economist, politician, philosopher, historian, anthropologist and the social reformer of India who raised his voice against the Indian caste system.The students were shown documentaries about the Father of the Constitution and his fundamental role in framing the constitution of India.Through their write-ups, the students threw light on the inspirational journey of his life.
